Avalon Hills Bible Church
Privacy policy
Last updated October 2, 2026
Avalon Hills Bible Church (“the church”, “we”) runs this website and app. This page explains what we keep about you, why, who can see it, and how to delete it.
We keep only what the site needs to work. We never sell your information, and we never share it with anyone for any purpose.
What we keep
You can look around the site without an account. When you sign in, we keep:
- Your account: your name, email address, phone number if you give one, and how you sign in (Google, Facebook, text message, or email and password).
- RSVPs: the gatherings you say you are going to, and how many people are coming with you.
- Serving: your offers to help, openings you take, any note you add, and the positions the church gives you.
- Mentoring: times you offer and seats you take.
- Things you send: event suggestions and replies to announcements.
- Alerts: which kinds of alerts you want and, for each device where you turn them on, a short label such as “iPhone, Safari”, the push address your browser gives us, and when it was last used. We also keep a record of the alerts sent.
- Church roles: whether you are an administrator or approve suggestions.
Your browser also keeps a few small settings for this site, such as that you are signed in, an ID for this device, and your place in the install guide. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
How we use it
Only to run the site: to show gatherings and who is going, to organize serving and mentoring, and to send the alerts you ask for. We do not show ads, and we do not use your information for anything else.
Who can see it
- Church administrators can see member accounts, so they can help with sign-in problems and run the site.
- The host of a gathering can see who has RSVPed to it. Whoever offers a mentoring time can see who took a seat.
- Administrators who run serving can see offers to help, with your email and phone so they can reach you.
- Approvers see the suggestions they are asked to approve. Administrators see replies to announcements.
The site runs on Google Firebase, which stores and processes this information for us: Firebase Authentication (sign-in), Cloud Firestore (data), Cloud Functions in Google’s us-east1 region (server tasks), and Firebase Hosting (the site itself). The site’s fonts load from Google Fonts. Nobody else receives your information.
Signing in with Google or Facebook
We use Google and Facebook only to sign you in. When you choose one, it gives us your name, email address, a link to your profile photo, and an account ID. Firebase Authentication keeps these on your sign-in record. We use them to sign you in and to show your name. We do not ask for anything else, such as your contacts, friends, posts, or calendar, and we never post for you.
Avalon Hills Bible Church's use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
How long we keep it
Until you delete your account, or the church removes it.
How to delete your data
On the site: sign in, go to Account, then Profile, and choose Delete my account at the bottom. It takes effect right away.
If you cannot sign in: call the office at 757-420-5583 or email ahbc.va@gmail.com, and we will delete your account for you.
Deleting your account removes:
- your sign-in, including any Google, Facebook, phone, or email login on it;
- your profile: name, email, phone, alert and interest choices, positions, and roles;
- your RSVPs (your spot goes to the next person waiting), mentoring seats, and offers to help;
- your replies to announcements, and suggestions not yet on the calendar;
- the alert setup on all your devices.
Some things other people rely on stay, without your name or account on them:
- gatherings you host that are already on the calendar stay, with no host;
- serving you were accepted for stays as a record marked removed, without your name or note;
- upcoming mentoring times you offered are cancelled, and people with a seat are told;
- announcements you posted stay, and the record of alerts sent stays without who received them.
Removing Avalon Hills in Facebook’s “Apps and websites” settings, or in your Google Account’s third-party connections, stops that sign-in but does not delete your church account. Use Delete my account, or contact the office.
Children
This is a general-audience church site. It is not directed at children under 13, and children under 13 should not create an account. If we learn that a child under 13 has an account, we will delete it. A parent can contact the office to ask.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top.
